The novel takes place in a New York City condominium called Echo Terrace. The story is told through the eyes of the building’s concierge, Farro Fescu, who acts as the general factotum and a quiet observer of the multi-ethnic, eccentric residents living inside.

Through his daily interactions and mailbox collections, Farro uncovers the deeply intertwined lives, secrets, and vulnerabilities of an exotic cross-section of the world, including:

• An Egyptian-born plastic surgeon
• A retired German Luftwaffe pilot
• A grieving widow
