The Bloody Meadow – William Ryan

Set during the tense atmosphere of 1930s Soviet Russia, the story follows Captain Alexei Korolev. After his previous dangerous investigation, Korolev is unexpectedly assigned by the NKVD state security service to look into the suspected suicide of a young woman named Maria Alexandovna Lenskaya. The case takes him to a bleak, battle-scarred movie set in Ukraine titled Bloody Meadow, where he quickly uncovers a web of secrets that puts his own life on the line.
