Gypsy – Lesley Pearse

The story begins with fifteen-year-old Beth and her brother Sam, who are orphaned and decide to seek a new life in America. 

• On a steamer to New York, they form a group with two others, Theo and Jack, to seek their fortunes.
• Beth achieves success playing her fiddle in saloons, where fans nickname her “Gypsy”.
• After trouble with local gangsters, the group flees to Canada to join the Klondike gold rush, embarking on a treacherous journey through snowy mountains and rapids toward the Yukon valley.
