The novel tells the story of Anneliese Zander de St Phalle, a celebrated and reclusive fashion designer known as “The Ice Queen”. She has worked hard to leave her past behind, but just as she is on the cusp of retirement, a woman from her past appears and brings up a story that Anneliese has tried to forget.
