Everything in Heaven is Connected to His Presence

The presence of the Holy Spirit, and the influence of the Lord’s Prayer.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13 King James Version (KJV)

Why would the Lord want us to pray this prayer? Today we ask why does He want us to pray this verse in Matthew 6:10. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

What does it have to do with the Holy Spirit?

The Lord’s prayer is an apostolic prayer. The word apostle is taken from the Roman army. The apostle is what they called a military leader who would go into the newly conquered area and begin to design a new city on the blueprint of Rome. They would even teach people the language of Rome. They would continue to do this until the city represented Rome, even the roads and the laws. The apostle would do all of this so that when the emperor came he would feel at home.

This is the prayer God wants us to pray.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Is it possible that God wants us to pray this apostolic prayer so that we can have homes and cities where He could feel at home in when He comes again?

The greatest value in heaven is the presence of God. There is no darkness in God’s world. Heaven is saturated with His presence. God is light and where there is light, there are no shadows. God’s world is without shadow – it is beauty and everything in heaven is connected to His presence.

Today we can have the presence of God in our daily lives because Jesus died for our sins and the Father send us the Holy Spirit as our comforter and as our companion, the moment we are reborn. When we are reborn we acquire new sets of rules and value systems that set us apart from the world.

In this new world (as it is in heaven) we need to embrace a culture of honour, a system of values that is actually another expression of excellence (a manifestation of wisdom). These are the values that the Lord wants us to keep.

People gather week after week in church and still sometimes miss the point, asking so what? Many of these people who have come to the Lord still have no sense of personal reality – they do not know who they are. They come face-to-face every day with who they are not, as they have not yet met someone or a group of people who can and will celebrate who they are.

Honour in a new value system.

…as it is in heaven.

In heaven, every person is valued and celebrated.

When you honour someone, you value that person for who he is and do not stumble over who they are not. In honouring a person, you find the treasure in him or her and then you will be able to celebrate who they are. These are the values of heaven – every time we pray as it is in heaven we pray for these values to manifest in our lives and that is what the Lord wants us to do – to totally adopt these values and make it our own because everything in heaven is connected to the presence of the Lord.

We need to be the people who celebrate, who the newcomers in the Lord are.

Israel camped around the presence in the dessert. Do we camp around the presence in our rituals on Sunday at church? What will happen if we allow the Holy Spirit to camp in us? How will it affect us?

If we allow the Holy Spirit to daily work in us then we will be able to live a kingdom lifestyle and this prayer …as it is in heaven. will come to fruition. The impact of this prayer is connected to our reality and effective thinking and changing our world to …as it is in heaven.
